PARIS - PROJECT OVERVIEW
Celebrating the launch of Johnnie Walker Umami in collaboration with chef Khai, we were approached to design the launch party in Paris.
For the launch, we designed an immersive tasting experience at Johnnie Walker Princess St and in Paris, drawing inspiration from the wild and magnificent Scottish and Japanese landscapes. A series of installations explored narratives built around the concepts of Earth, Wind, and Water, encouraging our guests to engage through touch, taste, and smell.
roles & responsibilities
My role for the Paris event was to design our bar and earth areas. These began with concept development, moodboards and story telling, transpiring into 3d renderings shown here.
edinburgh - PROJECT OVERVIEW
Due to the success of the Paris event Johnnie Walker decided to launch another party at their flagship shop on Princess St. Edinburgh. This event was to take the same experiential elements but execute them on a much smaller scale.
Rather than each element having its own space in the Paris event, here each element was confined to a table. This was a challenge happily accepted as we played with sound , scent and lush visual displays to really connect the guests to our experience.
There were three tables , one water, one earth and one wind. Each had its own landscape paying homage to an element transporting guests through sound, touch and smell.
At each table guests were given five minute tasting sessions, with each item relating to the specific element. After the fifteen minute experience they were taken to the bar to try the perfect serve of Johnnie Walker Umami Blue.
roles & responsibilities
From strategy to design to build I was the creative lead throughout the entirety of this project. Although a much smaller scale than the Paris event it was incredibly fun to be able to focus on little hidden details that are often up-scaled, using certain prompts to really amplify the guests senses and overall experience.
Each detail was carefully thought out and purposeful. We played with salt spray scents, edible bark and created (literally) a pond on a table. We used natural florals and fauna for the landscapes and Iām pretty sure we got the last of the seasons Lilly pads.
